Summer doesn’t have to mean an increase in your energy bills!
Summer is almost here, which means that, soon, you’ll be cranking up your air conditioning. In most cases, running the air conditioning day in and day out leads to a definite increase in your energy bills, but it doesn’t have to! If you are looking to stay cool this summer without spending an arm and a leg on your energy, you’ve come to the right place. The following is a list from our energy management experts of energy saving tips for your business this summer:
#1. Keep the shades and blinds closed.
Sunshine is one of the best parts about summer, but it can really warm up your office. You could potentially save a lot of money on your energy bills by simply keeping your shades and blinds closed, especially if there are lots of windows in your building that face the afternoon sun. Choose lighter colored shades instead of darker colored shades because they can deflect more heat.
#2. Switch to LEDs or CFLs.
If you have traditional, incandescent lights in your office, not only are they incredibly inefficient, they also create a whole lot of heat. This will only make your air conditioner have to work a whole lot harder to keep up. LEDs and CFLs burn cooler, last longer and are much more efficient.
These are just a couple of the many things you can do to combat the heat and save energy in your office this summer. Would you like to learn more? If so, please stay tuned for our next blog.
